Three Attire Suggestions For NYE

The most important thing is knowing where you are going to ring in the New Year. This is key in selecting the right thing to wear.

1. If attending a black-tie affair, I suggest a classic black tuxedo with peak lapels and black bow tie. For the gentleman who wants to stand out, I suggest a white dinner jacket with black tuxedo pants and black bow tie. For that gentleman who wants to be bold and make a statement, I suggest a dinner jacket with a floral, paisley or plaid print with black, navy or charcoal grey tuxedo pants and a black, navy or charcoal grey bow tie. All of these options can be worn with a white tuxedo shirt with studs or a hidden placket for a more modern cleaner look. As for shoes, I suggest a black patent leather oxford or slipper. (slippers can also be found in suede and in a variety of colors).

2. If going to a fancy restaurant or a supper club lounge, I suggest a solid black or dark grey suit with either a white or black shirt. The tie should be solid with a texture or a plain finish in black or a jewel tone for a pop. For an elegant touch, a solid color silk pocket square that will complement the tie. To complete this look, a plain or cap toe oxford shoe.

3. If attending a cocktail party, house party or club, I suggest a fancy sports coat made out of velvet, brocade or a solid bold color. If that is too much for your usual style, a black sports coat will always work. If you decide to go with a fancy sports coat, make sure to select a solid color dress shirt. If you decide to go with a black sports coat, select a dress shirt with a subtle polka dot or paisley print to add a more festive touch. Once you have selected the upper half of your outfit, it’s time for the lower half. I suggest a solid pair of dress pants that usually are a darker hue, but if you decide you want to be a bit edgy and comfortable a pair of jeans in a darker wash are completely acceptable. To bring this look together a pair of loafers, oxfords or an ankle high boot would be an excellent choice.

Any of these looks will help you look and feel your best to ring in the New Year. Enjoy!
